Saturday 22nd January – bike **** –Big Newbourne circuit – sunny.

Another nice sunny day here in Felixstowe but we were not sure what to do so after a morning at home doing exercises including several new ones to try and sort out my problem heel which seemed to be improving slightly, Mag suggested to head over to Newbourne so she could pick up some bags of horse manure for her compost, then have a picnic in Newbourne Springs. With three bags of manure bought, bargain at 50p a bag, Mag was well pleased we arrive at the small car park 1.15. We had the picnic in the rucksack and I took both my cameras including the big lens in case we spotted some birds; we saw several different but I only took three pics with it so a bit of a waste of time! We had only just got through the gate when a wren disappeared into the trees and the catkins were coming too:) This is a lovely quiet spot and we really love taking the paths and ducks boards through the trees with crystal clear streams with a big variety of trees set off against a blue sky:) There were blackbirds and tits with the odd robin flitting about we then headed up to our usual picnic spot in the heathland area and enjoyed our cuppa soup and cheese roll with the only downside being some noisy dirt bikes racing somewhere in the distance:( A sparrow hawk was seen along with a gold crest, well rested we set off again down through the woods coming to a foot path branching off to the right so we decide to explore. We come to a large camp site and decide to continue spotting some long-tailed tits and a friend robin. My heel was now playing up but we carried on coming to a T-junction during left back towards Newbourne which looked good for mountain biking, must try it sometime. We came to the lane by the Newbourne village sign and walk to the church for a quick break. We then check out the fish pond in the Fox pub car park before returning to the van. It was a top walk, it turned out to be 3 miles but it felt much longer with my dodgy heel, I was pleased to get back to the van perhaps its time for a day off tomorrow!
